Five entrants have won in the “Friendly Energy” Illuminated Object Competition organized by AS “Latvenergo” for the second year now at the Positivus Festival. The jury – representatives from Latvenergo, Positivus and SponsorKing, headed by Aigars Bikše – decided that the opportunity to pleasantly surprise and inspire festival visitors this summer would be given to creative and original objects “Sound Nest”, “Let it Go”, “Home”,  “Night Lamps” and “Meeting Place – Green Light”.

The Art Academy of Latvia’s Visual Plastic Art Department Head, environmental art expert Aigars Bikše said: “Working on the illuminated object competition jury is always very interesting, that’s why I was happy to once again agree to head it. It’s pleasant that this year a number of works which were worthy of note, were sent in - created by both new, as yet unknown artists, as well as by artists who have taken part a number of times. The festival will be truly colourful this year!”

This year, 53 works were submitted to jury representatives from the Positivus Festival, AS “Latvenergo” and sponsoring marketing agency SponsorKing, from which five winners were selected after careful evaluation. Among them are “Sound Nest” created by Marta Zariņa-Ģelze and Ģederts Ģelzis, in which visitors will be able to freely converse and enjoy the sounds created in bird cages hung around them. A ball of positive emotions called “Let it Go”, created by Kristaps Andersons, Una Stahovska, Dana Dreimane and Artūrs Perevertailo will send out concentrated charges of positive emotions to visitors every second. A lustrous and colourful illuminated construction, “Home” created by Atis Izands and Oskars Zāraks will conjure up a wonderful feeling of home for visitors, enveloping passersby in warm rays of light, inviting them to stay a while. The “Night Lamps” illuminated objects by Aleksandrs and Oļegs Andrejevskis will not only light up the dreamlike nature walks by the sea, but will also create a pleasant and restful atmosphere. Meanwhile, the unusual traffic light called “Meeting Place - Green Light” created by Undīne Kalniņa and Raivis Ieviņš, will react to changes in the surrounding environment and while changing colours, will encourage visitors to strive for new directions, feelings and other people.

For the second year now, AS “Latvenergo” will be inspiring creative minds and organizing an illuminated object competition at this year’s Positivus Festival, the theme of which is “Friendly Energy”. Five finalists were given the opportunity to install their works, worth EUR 1,000 at the festival site, where they will be seen by more than 30,000 festival visitors.

The Festival’s three-day ticket without a tent place costs EUR 57 and EUR 63 with a tent place. The tickets can be bought on www.positivusfestival.com, from Biļešu Serviss offices and at Nordea ATMs. As the Festival comes nearer, the ticket price will increase.
